OUR STORY
The Wednesday Afternoon Cultural Organization for Fun and Fellowship (WACOFF) had its beginnings in 1977 at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. The founding members were a group of six first year law students who took it upon themselves to dedicate each Wednesday afternoon of the school term to expeditions to explore the cultural and historical institutions of the City of Detroit in lieu of attendance at Professor John Mogk's property class. These cultural expeditions consisted largely of regular public tours of the now-defunct Stroh Brewery, but occasionally included other icons of the city, including Belle Isle, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the iron ore un-loading dock at the Ford River Rouge plant in Dearborn.
Over the years, this initial group expanded to include other Wayne State law alumni, friends, relatives and assorted hangers on, many of whom gather under the WACOFF umbrella on various occasions of note. Most notably, every autumn for 25 plus years the Annual Wacoff Scramble Championship and Gentlemen's Retreat takes place at various Michigan golf venues. It is this annual tradition which this site celebrates and humbly records for the viewing and reading pleasure of the faithful.
Enjoy.
